the age of 38, Robert L. Montgomery sold the insurance company he'd co-founded

struck a chord. Theodore P. Kalogris, Ph.D., was a microbiologist who lived by
the credo, "Be ashamed to die until you have scored a victory for mankind." The
two men met when Bob decided to try a uniquely different balanced nutritional
supplement developed by Dr. Ted. The product, and Dr. Ted, would leave an
indelible mark on Bob's life. In 1987, Bob was diagnosed with a brain tumor.
After delicate surgery to remove the tumor, he bounced back in less than half
the time doctors had predicted. He and his wife, Sandy, attribute that speedy
recovery to his long-term use of Dr. Ted's nutritional formula, now known as
Reliv Classic®. As the Montgomery family searched for a way to share this
extraordinary product with the world, they realized they wanted to create a
company that would also allow other families the opportunity to achieve the
kind of freedom and security they'd discovered. One year later, Bob and Sandy
teamed with renowned food scientist Dr. Carl W. Hastings and a core of other

1988 through 1993
A Star Is Born
In this short period of time, Relìv
International went from a one-product company in its infancy to a multi-million
dollar enterprise. Dr. Carl W. Hastings joined the company in 1988 to oversee
product research, development and manufacturing. Dr. Hastings scientific
laboratories created Relìv's full range of patented nutritional
supplements, weight loss products and sports drinks. Relìv created its
Scientific Advisory Board, headed by Dr. Carl W. Hastings. The company expanded
its Ambassador Program as more and more independent distributors reached a
level of financial independence. Relìv opened distributor networks in
Australia, New Zealand, Canada and Mexico in an explosion of international
expansion. In the United States, distributors continued to introduce the
Relìv system in all 50 states. Relìv stock began trading on the
Emerging Company Marketplace of the American Stock Exchange.
1994
Return From Tragedy
The company rebounded from a devastating
flood that claimed the Relìv Corporate Headquarters. Dr. Carl W.
Hastings earned a patent for Relìv Innergize!® sport drink.
Relìv also established the Direct Select retail-selling program.
Relìv further expanded the Ambassador program, adding new, higher
levels, including the pinnacle Inner Circle of Leadership.
1995
Road Map to Success
Relìv introduced Relìv
Cellebrate® and Relìv Celleboost® weight-management products.
Relìv announced a Silver Ambassador promotion to the Theodore P.
Kalogris homeland of Greece. Relìv expanded into the United Kingdom.
Relìv unveiled the premier Road to Presidential plan to help
distributors obtain financial freedom faster than ever before. Relìv
announced the formation of the Kalogris Foundation, its nonprofit philanthropic
organization.
1996 Record Growth
Relìv
posted $60.8 million in retail sales, up from $46.5 million in 1995.
Relìv rewarded $500,000 in bonuses during first half of year.
Relìv enhanced its compensation plan with the new Star Director Bonus
Plan. Recruiting and sponsoring activities skyrocket, up 41 percent in the
second quarter of the year. Relìv representatives, including Bob and
Sandy Montgomery and Dr. Theodore P. Kalogris, received an audience with Pope
John Paul II in Rome. Relìv introduced Relìv Arthaffect®
nutritional supplement, entering the promising functional foods market with a
product that protects healthy joint function. Dr. Carl W. Hastings, creator of
Relìv Arthaffect®, received a patent for Relìv
FibRestore® fiber-rich nutritional supplement and Relìv
Cellebrate® dietary food supplement with CitriMax. Relìv switched to
the NASDAQ national market system. Relìv introduced a new automated
information system designed to enhance communications with distributors.
1997 Functional Foods to the Forefront
Relìv is accepted as a corporate sponsor of the new Functional
Foods Program at the University of Illinois, the first such program in a US
university. Relìv broke ground on $4 million headquarters expansion.
First quarter sales from US network marketing operations grew more than 50
percent over same quarter in 1996.
1998 Family Freedom
Relìv is honored by the Pope John Paul II Foundation for its
philanthropic efforts worldwide. A company delegation, including Bob and Sandy
Montgomery and top distributors, receives a private audience with the Pontiff.
The strength and integrity of the Relìv business is recognized with the
election of Relìv Founder, President and CEO Robert L. Montgomery to the
Board of Directors of the Direct Selling Association. He also sits on the World
Federation DSA Chairman's Council and the Direct Selling Education Foundation.
Relìv introduced Relìv SoySentials women's daily protective
supplement, a flavorful blend of soy protein, herbs, antioxidants and
probiotics, developed exclusively for women. The company launched "Family
Freedom," a global marketing campaign that expands the possibilities for
families by providing them with a flexible opportunity to earn an attractive
income. Relìv introduced a completely revamped set of simple, yet
powerful sales tools. The new easy-to-use materials enable anyone to share the
whole Relìv story consistently, vividly and effectively.
1999/2000 - The Global Neighborhood
In 2000, the company
opened the Philippines and began laying the foundation for a broader move into
the Pacific Rim.
1999 also saw the introduction of a completely
revamped web site, www.reliv.com. From providing information and success
stories for prospects, to allowing online product ordering and report
generation, downloadable forms, and access to individual Distributor web sites,
Reliv's home on the web provides Distributors with a complete virtual office.
In 2000, the web site was further enhanced with separate home pages for each of
the Reliv countries. These pages provide access to country-specific information
about procedures, forms, products and contacts.
The millennium year
also marked a surge in Reliv's product development efforts with the launch of
Reliv 2000, an aggressive R&D program targeted at upgrading the company's
product line with new technologies and advanced ingredients. The program
launched in January of 2000 with the introduction of four new products: a
reformulated Reliv Ultrim-Plus nutritional meal replacement, enhanced with
thermogenic fat burners to drive faster, more effective weight loss; Reliv Now
for Kids, a formula specially designed to meet the stringent taste and nutrient
requirements of growing children; Reliv SoySense, a flavorful daily soy
supplement ideal for the entire family; and Reliv FibRestore, reformulated to
trim unnecessary carbohydrates and calories, and add probiotics. In May, the
company launched what has proved to be a revolution in the anti-aging market,
Reliv ReversAge anti-aging supplement. The effectiveness of the product, and
its appeal among Baby Boomers, sparked new energy and momentum throughout the
US market.
The company leveraged that excitement during the fall with
the worldwide introduction of an enhanced compensation plan. The updated plan
offers more income on frontline organizations, allowing business builders just
starting out to reap greater rewards for their early efforts. In fact, under
the new plan, Distributors may earn up to double-digit overrides on frontline
activity - a first in the network marketing industry. The plan also allows
Distributors to move more quickly through the Director program, providing them
with higher overall income much more quickly.
2002 Power to
the People
A renewed focus on sponsoring led to a 23% increase in
sponsoring around the world and fueled a sales increase of nearly 20% for the
year. The massive influx of new Distributors drove increases in all categories
from new Master Affiliates, to Director level and Ambassador advancements,
meaning more people are enjoying higher incomes than at any other time in our
history.
To support new Distributor training, Reliv introduced an
interactive CD-ROM in its New Distributor Business Kit. The CD-ROM includes how
to steps for getting started, as well as key information about all facets of
the business including the products, compensation plan and day-to-day
administration. Video training segments highlight the CD-ROM, which utilizes
numerous links to the Reliv website to ensure new Distributors always have the
most up-to-date information.
Reliv US launched an ongoing series of
Regional Conferences in an effort to bring this powerful sponsoring and
development tool more Distributors. The company now holds one international
conference each summer, supported by numerous regional conferences throughout
the year.
2002 also marked the beginning of Relivs European expansion
with the opening of Reliv Ireland and Relivs groundbreaking anti-aging formula,
Reliv ReversAge, received a patent from the US Patent and Trademark Office,
bringing the number of patented Reliv products to six.
2003 A
Tidal Wave of Momentum
Reliv broke the century mark for the first
time in company history, posting worldwide retail sales of more than US $110
million for 2003.
Supporting this record-setting trend, the company
finished the year with its 28th straight month of sales increases vs. year ago.
Sponsoring of new Distributors was up in all markets and Master Affiliate
promotions soared nearly 28%. Distributor advancements within the Director
program also continue to rise, and across the board, Distributor checks are
trending upward significantly. The company also continues to promote record
numbers of Ambassadors and Presidential Directors worldwide.
Relivs
hugely successful year was fueled by a combination of factors, first and
foremost being a worldwide re-commitment to the Reliv Success System.
Throughout the year, the company worked closely with each market to streamline
marketing and a sales support tools in an effort to simplify how Distributors
do business. The result of the years efforts is a sponsoring process,
commission program and Success System that are consistent across borders. The
benefit is that it is now much easier for Distributors to actively build their
businesses in any Reliv country.
International expansion also played a
part in the companys sales growth, with the October opening of Reliv Malaysia,
the companys ninth country. Malaysia represents an important step in Relivs
ongoing drive into Asia. It was also the site of the companys first-ever
opportunity meeting held in Chinese. The company now regularly holds meetings
around the world in three languages English, Spanish and
Chinese.
