Message received from Wes Linden (04/12/10). Hi everyone, I wanted to let you know today is my 13th anniversary of joining Telecom plus (now Utility Warehouse as an Independent Distributor (now a partner!). What a fun journey it has been so far. I have made many great friends (not partners!) on my way to Senior Marketing Director (sorry…National Group Leader), during this time and I’m including you in this because you’re one of them. I’m very grateful for all the things the business has offered me in terms of personal development; confidence; sense of worth; ownership of life; and have had too many wonderful opportunities, rewards and benefits to single things out. I know many of you are seeing these things yourself, which is brilliant.
And I guess I’d not be in a 5* Mauritius hotel right now, with temperatures of 26 degrees+ whilst the UK is cold, without the business either!! So thanks for being part of my journey so far and I hope I can be part of your future journey too. There can’t be many businesses where you’re more enthused about it 13 years on, than when you started! I kept thinking today about times when I felt like stopping or slowing down; or times when I got peeved because I didn’t earn as much as I thought I might; or a new customer application did not go quite to plan; or a team member sent their pack back.
We’re fortunate we ‘get it’ but if only ‘they’ (I mean all those who said no; or quit; or have never got round to taking it seriously) could see the medium and long term, as they move through their sliding doors, they might take their lives to such a different level of success. As I drunk a cocktail on the beach today (I was even topless yes, I must confess!), it really hit me – I confirmed to myself that Steph Longworth’s famous statement really is true…time will win out! See you in a few days time and I hope we can push your business on together in 2011.
