The human value of network marketingThe benefits of the network marketing industry go beyond the obvious. Understanding the potential human value adds significant ‘posture’ to how we feel & express ourselves. It’s not just about the money. Allan Pease eludes to this in his book, Questions are the Answers (available @ Knowledge Is King).

Consider these findings, taken from a DSA economic impact summary conducted by Dr John Cossens of Otago University Marketing Department, University (looking at the direct selling industry) – “perhaps one of the most significant results of the study was the finding that 80% of those surveyed felt their lifestyle had improved as a result of their involvement in the direct selling industry. 90% felt they had learnt new skills or improved old ones; 93% agreed their communication skills had improved; 87.5% felt they were more confident; 85.5% felt they were more motivated; 83.5% considered they were more independent & 79% believed they had a new direction in life.”  Download summary (pdf).

    Interesting article and perspective. I was involved with network marketing over 25 years ago (Amway) and whilst I made no real money during my five years of involvement, the personal growth and self-development has since paid very good dividends. From humble beginnings working at a garage, I moved into car sales, then financial sales and I am now a Bank Manager. I would say that my lifestyle and finances have indeed improved and the catalyst was the self-development from my years in network marketing – books, tapes, video’s and many seminars – they cost a fortune, but the returns have come, but just not in the way I originally intended. And 25 years on, I am again considering getting involved again. The Utility Warehouse seems the obvious choice. I have a friend who recently joined and he has shown me the online training course and some of the back-office stuff. It all looks very impressive and I’m looking forward to getting started next month.

      Good luck Graham. We’ve a few things in common – you & I, and I relate to several things you have written here. In particular, I agree with your view on the spin-off benefits of getting involved with a program of self-development and I’m sure a great many people could testify to similar things. My advice – call your friend and ask to get started without delay. I’m sure he has told you about the half-price joining fee. Be sure to introduce yourself if our paths cross at one of the Company events. To your massive success!

        Hi Jez, I to was involved with the network marketing industry in the money programmes around the early 90s, we all thought we were going to be millionaries but that didn’t happen but like yourself I learned a great deal from the industry. Network marketers are an odd bunch but in a nice way.

        I am not connected with any networking plan at present but I have started a company 118freecall that involves providing a FREE alternative 118 service the web site is in the process of being developed at present. I have carried out extensive research and there is a gap in the market for such a service and what is more there is nothing resembling it out there at present. I would appreciate it if you could contact me if you are interested.
