You have a lousy upline?

Geese flying in formationIn network marketing/mlm, most leaders are sponsored by someone not currently gifted with leadership skills. Interesting, eh? That means that for those who are natural leaders already or aspire to leadership, the chances are that they won’t have much direct upline support. And for those who are blessed with such support, that should be considered a bonus. And for those with no interest in being a leader (even if only personal leadership), it probably doesn’t matter if they have upline support or not.

Perhaps we need to ask ourselves, “What is it that I want my upline to do that I am unwilling to do myself?” The answer is probably self evident, that we should do the work ourselves and take complete responsibility for our own success (or failure). It’s tough, but if we don’t take this viewpoint, if we mistakenly believe that our upline is responsible for building our success, then that means we also must hold the hands of our unmotivated team members and do their work for them too. Ouch! Not a pleasant picture. So remember, most leaders are sponsored by someone who isn’t a leader and becoming a leader, even if only of our own business, is up to us.

Been in network marketing for years. You name it and I’ve probably tried it, failed and have excess stock in the garage to prove it. Amway, NSA, Kleeneze, VMDirect to name but a few. Your article is interesting and strikes a chord with me. I’ve had a run of lousy uplines. It’s a fact, but it’s only recently that I listened to a great CD by Darren Hardy called Making the Shift that I realised that in truth it’s me that’s been a lousy downline and that my head was never right. I’m still looking for the right opportunity. Perhaps it will be the Utility Warehouse. I’ve filled out an enquiry form with my number – perhaps someone could give me a call.
