Preparing to breakthrough

In just seven days time, 60-70 of us will be embarking on an adventure together – a day of fun, food, entertainment and a healthy portion of challenge and I don’t mind sharing with you that I’m just a little excited. Only two weekends ago Neil & Sarah Hewitt and myself drove deep into the heart of some woods near Stratford-upon-Avon and took delivery of one cubic metre of the finest wood…timber that has taken many decades to grow, that now sits in my garden and will shortly give up it’s energy for all of us crazy people to walk on in the form of a fire-walk next week.
I can’t imagine that any of us feel completely comfortable with the concept of walking on 1200 degree hot coals, but isn’t that the point? To face a fear…to do it anyway? Isn’t that the whole philosophy of doing life…of success…of stepping out boldly in the direction of our dreams. I was talking with a chap a few weeks back. No no no he said – firewalk – not me, been to one of those before. Didn’t do it then, won’t do it now. In that moment I got it. A paralysing fear was what he was talking about. He watched 30 people walk the hot coals and not a blister or scald to be seen, but the fear was too much and the opportunity lost. He’s a happy guy and I respect his thinking, but in truth his life, his results, his experiences seem to echo very closely his refusal to face a fear and triumph over it.
It reminded me of the philosophy of there being two potential pains in life – the pain of discipline and the pain of regret. A firewalk is a big thing and a big fear for most people, myself included. I’ve studied the history, the physics, the psychology, read a lot, watched the documentaries, watched the video’s (please understand that this is the green in me). The red’s amongst us just say, which way and how fast and they’re off over the coals. Funny really, but despite all my detailed research, my only conclusion was that it’s extremely hot, it’s a challenge and I get the symbolic nature of what we all have the opportunity to do together.
I wonder if any of you knew that our very own Upline NNL, Steve Critchley used to run Fire Walks. This was linked to his involvement with Anthony Robbins and Steve has organised 100′s Fire walks in his time. Steve described Fire Walking as one of the most emotionally charged activites that he has ever been involved with. He described how people are liberated to an enlightened understanding of what they are trully capable of achieving in life and how such an event can be a springboard, a stepping stone to major decisions and significantly accelerated success. I hope that you will join me in feeling encouraged by all of this – excited even. And I’d like to give you a thought to dwell on. Imagine Everest, an accent on the peak itself, that we have all embarked on that journey together, years of planning, years of training, of preparation and next weekend, from all corners of the UK, we will meet at base-camp, together as a united team and ready to step out towards the summit, to plant our own flag of success, through whatever challenges the mountain might throw at us.
Imagine that this symbol of Everest actually represents our individual goals in life, perhaps even our individual bucket list. However big, small, bold, audacious, charitable, selfish, extravagent or otherwise these goals might be, we’re on the slopes together, roped up & ready to go. Next weekend, see it as base-camp and an opportunity to step over the line, to lay to rest whatever might have held us back, to step upwards, through the pain, through the challenges, through our own very personal self-limiting beliefs, to walk on fire and to know that if we can do this, we can do anything.
So, brave people, the stage is set, the venue is Costa Del Redditch, Metropoplis Del West Midlands, the date – next saturday and I hope you’re excited. This I know will be the start of our best ever year in Network Marketing with massive foundations laid and together, we’re gonna win big with this Company. The timing, the place, the circumstances, the weather, the ecconomy…will never again be more in our favour for our own accent on Everest than they are today.

Hi Jez, the whole fire-walk event was excellent and I am proud of myself for doing it, although I swore early on that I wouldn’t. I had to go on early, I figured it would give Mike more time to work on my blisters, singed hair and flaming jeans!! there was no need eh?? Thanks for everything and your continued help, it’s well appreciated believe me.
Hi Jez, just to say thanks for a wonderful evening’s experience. It was a pleasure meeting you for the first time, and now being able to put a face to the voice I hear. Maria and I did in fact enjoy the company of so may like-minded Utility Warehouse colleagues, sharing marketing experiences, making new friends, and most of all for me to do something I never dream’t I would be able to do – fire-walking. Thanks again for the invitation that has certainly had an impact on us. We certainly appreciated your hospitality.
Hi Jez, thank you for a fantastic and motivational Utility Warehouse team event last Saturday. It has already made a difference to the way I feel about achieving my goals. Watch this space!
Hi Jez – I just wanted to drop you a quick line to thank you and your family for a fantastic day on Saturday. One thing I love about the Utility Warehouse business is all the great people you come into contact with and Saturday was no different. The gods where smiling on us to give us such great weather. What an experience the fire walk was but one I wouldn’t have missed and I have to say has proved to me that anything can be overcome if we really want to.
I’m in the process of writing my goals down with the help of Chris Williams CD`s and when I have completed them I will let you know what they are so you can help me keep on track. Finally Jez thanks for all your efforts and I have to say since you have involved me in the team my drive to succeed has gone off the scale. Where I once hoped I would be successful with the Utility Warehouse, I now know I will be successful. All the best Jez and thanks for a great day.
Hi Jez, just wanted to say thank you for Saturday’s fire walk. It’s a memory that I will take to my grave! I left feeling determined to push myself beyond my comfort zone, not just within the business but in other area’s of my life as well. I now plan on doing an event like that for 75 members of my own Utility Warehouse team, one day. Also thank you for the books, I’ll absorb and implement the knowledge from them over the next two weeks. Tell Mike that I want my car back!! That car was made specifically for me.
